Work with a Model in Real Locations
Take your portrait photography out of the studio and into the real world.
This 4-hour natural light workshop in Margate is built around working with a model in live environments, using the town’s unique mix of coastal textures, architecture, and light to create powerful, story-driven portraits.
You won’t be left guessing what to do. I’ll guide you through the process of shooting in public spaces, helping you build confidence in directing a model, composing your shots, and making the most of each location.
We keep the group to a maximum of 6 participants (including myself) so everyone gets meaningful shooting time without feeling rushed or crowded.
During the session, you’ll learn how to:
Confidently direct and work with a model
Compose strong portraits in busy, real-world settings
Use available light creatively (no complicated setups)
See contrast, shape, and storytelling in black & white
Adapt quickly to changing environments and opportunities
This isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about developing your eye and leaving with images you’re genuinely proud of.
What to Expect:
4-hour guided shoot around Margate
Professional model included
Multiple carefully chosen locations
Hands-on support throughout
