Natural Light | Professional Model | Contrasting Locations

Push your creativity and learn to see powerful images in vastly different urban environments.

This 4-hour London-based workshop is designed to challenge and develop your eye by working across two visually striking locations each offering completely different moods, textures, and photographic opportunities.

We’ll begin just off Brick Lane, surrounded by raw, expressive graffiti and layered street textures, perfect for bold, gritty portrait work. From there, we’ll move into the financial district near the Gherkin and Lloyd’s buildings, where glass, steel, and reflections create a clean, modern contrast.

Working with a professional model throughout, you’ll learn how to adapt your approach to each environment, finding strong compositions, using available light, and creating images that feel intentional rather than accidental.

This workshop is about more than just taking photos, it’s about training your eye to recognise potential in any setting.

During the session, you’ll learn how to:

  • See and compose images in contrasting urban environments

  • Work confidently with a professional model

  • Use natural light creatively in both textured and reflective spaces

  • Adapt your style quickly to suit different locations

  • Create strong, story-driven portraits in black & white

With a small group size, you’ll have plenty of time to shoot, experiment, and receive guidance throughout.

Who It’s For:
Photographers who want to develop a stronger visual style, improve their ability to “see” images in any environment, and gain confidence shooting portraits on location.

Spaces are limited to maintain a high-quality, hands-on experience.

This group photoshoot is intended solely for portfolio-building purposes and is not a commercial production; participants and photographers must not request or demand model release forms from any individuals involved.

What to Bring

DSLR or Mirrorless Camera

  • Any modern camera is suitable as long as you are comfortable using it in manual or semi-manual modes

Lenses

  • A prime lens (e.g. 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm) for portraits

  • Or a versatile zoom (e.g. 24–70mm or 24–105mm)

These will allow you to adapt quickly across both locations

Spare Batteries & Memory Cards

You’ll be shooting a lot so come prepared

Comfortable Walking Shoes

  • We’ll be moving between locations and on our feet throughout

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing

  • This is an outdoor shoot please bring a raincoat or waterproof layer in case of changing weather

Optional:

  • Lightweight reflector (if you have one)

  • Camera bag you can move easily with
