Exploring Rye

There's something timeless about strolling through the cobblestone streets of Rye, camera in hand, capturing the essence of this quaint English town in black and white.

Nestled in East Sussex, Rye is a picturesque medieval town that seems almost frozen in time. Its narrow lanes, half-timbered houses, and ancient landmarks provide the perfect backdrop for a monochrome exploration.

One of the highlights of my journey was stumbling upon the famous Mermaid Street, with its crooked houses leaning precariously over the cobblestones below. In black and white, the timeless beauty of this historic thoroughfare was accentuated, evoking a sense of nostalgia for days gone by. I couldn't help but imagine the countless stories that must have unfolded within these ancient walls over the centuries. The only downside was the modern additions to the scene like cars, signs, and of course, tourists, of which of course I am also one.

Exploring Rye with my camera, both Sony A7R4 and my trusty iPhone, had been a truly enriching experience, reminding me once again of the power of photography to immortalise moments in time. And as I walked back through the cobblestone streets, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness and preserve the unique charm of this historic town.
